IN THIS LESSON

NOW, LET’S BEGIN WORKING ON SOME SPECIALLY CURATED EXERCISES, DESIGNED TO TRAIN THE TRICKIEST PASSAGES OF CAMPAGNOLI #6 FROM 41 CAPRICES.

Campagnoli etude #6 is a melancholy, longing piece of music that has the opportunity to showcase beautiful expressive playing. This piece allows you to demonstrate your mastery of balanced and sustained slow bowing, creating a seamless connection to form a soaring melody. Additionally, it calls for a variety of vibrato techniques and proficiency in navigating through 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th positions, along with executing double stops. There’s much to explore and refine!

As you begin working on these new exercises in Chapter 2, concentrate solely on practicing them—leave the etude aside for now. Our aim is to establish a solid foundation using these exercises, fostering ease, comfort, and confidence in the skills required for Campagnoli. Once you are fluent with these exercises, we will move on to learning the notes in Campagnoli and applying them to these techniques and the skills from Chapter 1. This approach ensures the most efficient and effective learning process, reducing the risk of developing bad habits while tackling the etude.

Remember that the scales Bb Major and G minor covered in Unit 1 will prove invaluable for mastering Campagnoli 6. Incorporate one of these scales into your daily warm-up routine before delving into Campagnoli practice.
