IN THIS LESSON

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU MADE IT THROUGH CAMPAGNOLI!

Ideally, each phrase was learned slowly and intentionally.

If you just arrived here and realized you did more of a “get to know you” trip through the piece, that’s ok! This is the time to circle back to the beginning of this chapter, slow down, and make sure your work is sinking in. You want to feel like you can easily play through each individual phrase with a high level of accuracy, and with a beautiful sound.

If you just arrived here feeling like you know this piece really well, congratulations! Your patience is impressive, and you’ve worked really hard! This is the time to begin attaching the phrases together;

Phrases 1+2 without stopping, then add phrase 3.

Phrases 4 + 5, then add phrase 6.

Phrases 7+8.

Now you have 3 large units of the piece! Attache these 3 units together without stopping, and suddenly you can play through the whole piece!

*

And suddenly, you’re ready to move on to the Refining unit.

***This does not mean you put away the exercises and never revisit! We all have good days and bad days. Days where intonation is great but our bow is lumpy, days where we are so coordinated with our bow but miss our shifts. Every day, try to do an exercise to strengthen a challenge in the piece. This is upkeep, and it is hugely important!***
