IN THIS LESSON

CAMPAGNOLI, HERE WE COME!

Now that you have invested time developing your skills and control over elements of the hardest moments in this etude, we can approach learning Mazas 26 from a position of comfort and confidence.

We still want to start our work in a slow tempo, and use a metronome and tuner.

As as you learn each phrase, think about what tools you have already been building and how they are useful in this context.

The written instructions on each phrase’s page will not only give helpful troubleshooting tips for common ‘whoopsies’, but it will help explain the fingerings TMEA assigned, as well as which exercises and skills we are applying to the music. If you learn better by listening, feel free to focus on the video.

When learning this etude, keep circling back to our technique and exercises to structure your practice! For example:

if your hand frame feels unsure —> go back to the 1 position scale for 5 minutes!

if your vibrato doesn’t feel easy —> do the vibrato exercise for 5 minutes!

if you are running out of bow in an area —> go back to Slow Bow Dynamic Control for 5 minutes

if your double stops aren’t in tune —> build them as we did in the Double-Stops exercise!

Take your time deeply learning each phrase, and make sure that even if the tempo is slow, you can play through the whole phrase as 1 idea before you go on to the next.

Trust the Process!

Happy Practicing!
